10 days in Italy with Grandma
Our trip to Italy, in pictures! We started and ended our trip in Roma– rented a car and visited quite a few places in between. (Not included here: Rome and Vatican City, to be blogged soon)
Quick stop in wet Orvieto to see the Duomo
Stayed in an apartment in the Useppi tower right in the Piazza Duomo (the 2nd tower from the right photo source)
view from our apartment
Imagine my surprise when I learned there were more buildings other than the leaning tower of Pisa, in the Piazza Duomo di Pisa! (Duh was Xiker’s reply)
inside the Duomo
Love how many people are posing in this pic
Just how old are these steps?! The tower was completed in 1372
Bapistery of St. John in the back, the duomo in the foreground
Caught a rosy sunset on our way back to San G
We left San G for Venezia
Sunset at the Grand Canal
The Doge Palace. much amaze
loved our visit to Murano, which is famous for glassblowing
all stores pretty much looked like this. i was afraid to go in any!
so xik and i gamboled outside while grandma and her friend shopped!
what Murano looks like when not obstructed by funny looking people
love the glass flowers!
back to Venice
the only group pic! me next to my grandma, of course
We went on to Firenze (Florence in English)… the Ponte Vecchio
one of many cathedrals we visited
made sure to sample some gelato every so often!
gorgeous rendering of heaven and hell!
climbing up to the dome was exhausting
but well worth the view!
was thrilled to visit the Uffizi Gallery
Ponte Vecchio at night
i just love the shabby glamour that is Italy
